Discover Our Story
A Tradition of Excellence and Innovation
In September 2000, Helen and Stephen Prescott brought their vision to life by founding BISB and opening the doors to our first building on Avenue Emile Max. With years of teaching experience around the globe, they envisioned a dynamic and nurturing school of excellence in the heart of Brussels.
As BISB grew, the need for expansion arose. Fortune smiled upon us when a second building on Avenue Emeraude, just around the corner, became part of the BISB campus, dedicated to our older students.
In 2025, we proudly celebrate 25 years of supporting and inspiring young minds, staying true to our founders' vision of excellence in education.

YEAR GROUPS
Our curriculum is rooted in the National Curriculum for England, with adaptations in subjects like Geography and History to reflect the diverse experiences of our student body. This approach embraces the international nature of our school and its unique location in Belgium, at the heart of Europe.
Early Years
Ages 3-5
Our Early Years program offers a happy, nurturing, and well-structured environment where children grow in confidence, becoming increasingly independent and secure. Through engaging play, enriching learning activities, and meaningful social interactions beyond the home, children develop essential skills for their lifelong learning journey.
Key Stage 1
Learning focuses on the core academic subjects of English, Mathematics, and Science, complemented by cross-curricular, themed topic work that integrates History, Geography, Design and Technology, Computing, Art, Music, and French. Additionally, students participate in swimming classes at the NATO pool, promoting physical development and well-being.
Key Stage 2
Learning builds on the subjects introduced in Key Stage 1, with an added emphasis on well-being and personal growth. Our comprehensive outdoor education program includes activities such as orienteering, team-building games, sports, and creative arts, fostering physical, social, and emotional development. Students also have opportunities to take on leadership roles, building confidence and developing essential skills such as teamwork, responsibility, and communication.
